“Your future is created by what you do today, not tomorrow.”
Robert Kiyosaki
I think that this means that you shouldn’t wait until tomorrow to do something, if you have something to do, do it at the moment. Don’t leave it waiting for later. The sooner you get done with important things, the more available time you will have. And with one choice that you make today, it can affect tomorrow too.

SQ3R: A Great Reading an Studying Technique

SQ3R: A Great Reading an Studying Technique
Improve Your Study Skills
SQ3R stands for:
·         Survey
·         Question
·         Read
·         Recite
·         Review
It is a proven technique to sharpen your study skills. In college, you’ll be required to do lots of reading. You’ll often have to complete reading assignments in several books for several different courses at the same time
SQ3R helps make reading and studying purposeful and effective, so that you use your time most efficiently. Here’s how this strategy works.
Survey
Let’s say your assignment is to read one chapter. First, get an idea of what the chapter is about by reviewing the highlights:
  • Read the tittle, headings and sub headings.
  • Notice words that are italicized or bold.
  • Look at charts, graphs, maps, and other visual material.
  • Read captions
  • Read the very beginning and end of the chapter.

“There is no justification ever for choosing any part of what you know to be evil.”
Ayn Rand
I think that this quote means that it’s never okay for you to something wrong. First of all, because you don’t need to. And second, it doesn’t give you anything in return but a guilty conscience.

Reading 5 Tips For Success(Tip 5)

Reading 5 Tips For Success(Tip 5)
Tip 5: Keep a List of Questions
When you feel confused about something you're reading, write down any questions you have. Sometimes your questions are answered as you read further. If not, don't be afraid to ask for help. Remember, teachers create assignments; they've read the texts and are familiar with them. When you have specific questions, your teachers can provide answers that will help you better understand the material. Learning is rooted in questions develop and asked by the learner.
Asking questions to yourself, to the teacher, and to others, is a great learning method. When you cease to ask questions, you cease to exist to a great extent. Read actively by silently asking questions as you read. Questioning immerses you into the material you are reading and therefore will expand your mental capacities more than almost anything else.
The philosopher Sir Francis Bacon said “knowledge is power.” Improving your reading comprehension is the key to gaining important knowledge and making the most of your education. So pick up a book….. and a pen.

“When I was teaching basketball, I urged my players to try their hardest to improve on that very day, to make that practice masterpiece. This rule is even more important in life than basketball. you have to apply yourself to the task of becoming a little better each and every day over a period of time, you will become a lot better. Only then will you be able to approach being the best you can be. It begins by trying to make each day count and  knowing you can never up for a lost day.”
John Wooden
I think this quote means that the more you practice the better you will be. For example if you have trouble memorizing something the only way you will be good at it is if you practice and practice until you have mastered it. I think it’s important for you to try your best in everything in your everyday life, because if you don’t try your best you will not go very far in life. Also the key to success is to have self-determination and belief that you can do what you set your mind to and that you will not stop until you reach it. And don't stop there once you achieved a goal you set another and keep going on trying to have a successful life.

Tip 3: Do Research
Literary critics have written vast numbers of analytical and critical pieces on countless books. It you’re having trouble understanding a particular text, do some research and see what knowledgeable sources have to say about it. In addition to increasing your comprehension, you’ll also be showing initiative, something teachers always like to see. Always use legitimate and scholarly sources, not condensed study guides. Going the extra mile in your research elevates your achievement 10-fold.
Tip 4: Use a Dictionary
Make sure you have aces to a dictionary when you’re reading. You can often figure out the meaning of  an unfamiliar word by using context clues, but sometimes you can’t. rather than simply skipping over the words you don’t know, take the time to look them up. The results are well worth the effort. Your comprehension will increase greatly, and you’ll build your vocabulary at the same time.

“Every time I’ve done something that doesn’t feel right, it’s ended up not being right.”
Mario Cuomo
I think this quote means that when your gut tells you that something is wrong you have to listen to it because it might be right. If you feel that you forgot something its mostly because you did. Also if you keep feeling like you did something wrong then it is because you probably did do something wrong. There is no reason to not feel guilty unless you did something to feel guilty about.

Reading 5 Tips for Success Tips (1-2)

Reading  for Success (1-2)
Reading and writing go hand in hand. The better you understand a text, the more like you are to successfully communicate your thoughts about it in writing. So it’s important to develop strong skills in both areas. With that in mind, here’s how to improve your reading comprehension.
Tip 1: Annotate
Be an active reader. Instead of passively reading a text, take notes about important story elements, key factual information and significant ideas in the text.
Tip 2: Note the Author’s Writing Style
Every author writes with a purpose, using deliberate methods to successfully relate specific information to the audience. When you’re reading, look for patterns in the author’s writing. For example, you may notice a repetition of key words, phrases or symbols—or the use of a distinct type of sentence structure. Authors employ these writing strategies to help readers comprehend a central argument or theme, so be sure to explore how these techniques create meaning

The Three Don'ts
Don't Whine
Don't Complain
Don't Make Excuses
John Wooden

I think that these three don'ts are trying to say not to blame something else for your own mistakes. Sometimes people do something wrong, and they start to blame other things so that it won't seem as if they did something wrong. John Wooden is trying to say that people should whine, complain, or make excuses for something that is little  even something that is big.

3. Set Attainable Goals.
If you’re having trouble writing a 25-page paper for class because it seems like such a big job, don’t focus on that final number. Break that  paper down and consider each section of your paper individually. You can handle any projects in small chunks
4.  Find A Social Support Network.
Create a group of people around you who want to help you succeed. Mentors can be teachers or family friends who can give you guidance and help you develop new skills. Counselors can help you with planning your courses and starting to explore colleges. You can also reach out to friends and peers who can motivate you by listening and sharing ideas.
5. Acknowledge Your Accomplishments.
Give yourself a quick reward when you complete an assignment or task. Take a walk, send an email, get a snack. Then move on to the next project.

“The Three Nevers”

“The Three Nevers”
v  Never lie
v  Never cheat
v  Never steal
-John Wooden
I think that this statement is trying to say that people need to stop and think about what they are doing and what they should be doing. Sometimes some people don’t realize what they did until they finally understand that what they did was wrong. If people would stop and think about what they are doing they wouldn't have hurt anyone or themselves.

5 Tips for Staying Motivated (Tips 1-2)

5 Tips for Staying Motivated
 (Tips 1-2)
To succeed in high school and college, you have to do your best at all times. But sometimes it’s hard to stay motivated, even when you really care about the work you’re doing. Here are five ways to stay on the track.
1.   Focus on High-Impact Activities
The key to success in schools is staying focused on your course work. Make a list to get an overall picture of your workload before you start to tackle any of it. Then, make a plan. Although it’s tempting to do the simplest assignments first, those that take more time and effort to accomplish are probably the ones that you’ll learn the most from. To determine what your priorities are, rank your assignments in the order of their importance. Then rearrange your time and devote more energy towards those that have the greatest impact on your course work and grades. For example, even though all homework assignments are important, studying for a midterm exam takes priorities over writing a paragraph for English class. As you complete each task, think of it as another step on your way to college success
2.   Create New Challenges
Changing you approach can help you stay interested in what you’re going. If you've been given an assignment similar to one you've done in the past, think about it in a different way. If you wrote an essay for a creative writing assignment last year try a poem this time. For book reports, pick a history book instead of another biography.

Take Advantage of Any Free Time: If you have a study or a long bus ride use the time to review notes, prepare for an upcoming class or start your homework. Flash cards are a great learning tool. They are easy to make, easy to handle, and are a marvelous tool to help you learn and remember anything. Punch a hole in the upper left corner of each index card and connect the stack of your flash cards with a ring. Then the cards are bound and not flopping around. Flash cards bound like this act like a small book with pages. You can even have separate ringed stacks for each subject. Whatever you want to remember put it on a card.
Study with a Friend: Get together with friends and classmates to quiz each other, compare notes and predict test questions. Consider joining a Study Group.
Communicate: If you have concerns about the amount or type of homework you have, you may want to talk to your family, teachers or counselor. They can help you understand how much time you need to allot for homework and how to manage your tasks.
Celebrate You Achievements: Reward yourself for hitting milestones or doing something well.

Keep Things In Perspective: Know how much weight each assignment or test carries, and use your time accordingly. Don't waste time, but be wise and smart. Doing the most important things first is being wise and smart.
Get More Involved: Keep your mind from watching by taking notes, underlining sections, discussing topics with others or relating your homework to something you’re studying in another class. Learn actively and not passively. Be anxiously engaged in your studies and you will have a great experience. Demonstrate a good attitude toward home assignments, and you will begin loving it.
Organize The Information: People process information in different ways. Some people like to draw pictures or charts to digest information, others prefer to read out loud or make detailed outlines. Try to find the methods that work best for you. ask your teacher for recommendations if you're having trouble.

“Tis the set of the sail
Ella wheeler Wilcox 1916
But to every mind there openeth,
A way, and a way, and away.
A high soul climbs the highway,
And the low soul gropes the low,
And in between on the misty flats,
The rest drift to and fro.

But to every man there openeth,
A high way and a low,
And every mind decideth,
The way his soul shall go.

One ship sails East,
And another West,
By the self-same winds that blow,
'Tis the set of sails
And not the gales,
That tells the way we go.
Like the winds of the sea
Are the waves of time,
As we journey along through life,
'Tis the set of the soul,
That determines the goal,
And not the calm or the strife.

So it doesn't control you(Part 1)
Although very few students love homework, it does serve a purpose. Homework helps you:
ü  Reinforce what you've learned during the day
ü  Build study habits that are essential on college
ü  Prepare for your classes
ü  Get a sense of progress
Here  are some tips you deal with homework more efficiently:
·         Set The Mood: create a good study area with everything you need(for example, a calculator). If you don’t have a quiet place at home, try your school or local library
·         Know Where To Begin: Make a list of everything you need to do, and note all deadlines. Do the more difficult assignments first, so you don’t have to face them at the end.
·         Study At The Same Time Every Day: Even if you don’t have homework every night, use the time to review notes. If sitting down to work is part of your normal routine, you’ll approach it with less dread. Also, you’ll become a pro at using time Productively.

Try out the Cornell system, but if it doesn’t work for you, experiment with other methods. Ask your classmates how they take notes or ask a teacher for advice. ·         Keep all your notes in one place
·         Date and number pages; keeping them in order makes it easier to understand them later.

Distance Education: is A Virtual Classroom For You? (Part 4)
Emphasis on The Written World
Most of the communication, as well as the course work, in distance-learning classes is written. That’s a plus, because the focus on the written word gives you the opportunity to develop as a writer—and strong writing skills are essential  to academic success. However, if writing is serious weakness for you, virtual learning may not be the best educational option until improve your skills. Yes, most of distance education is the written word; therefore, you need to be a good reader, love to read, and love writing also. Most of your assignments will be written and submitted to the instructor in the written format. Your penmanship needs to be excellent, spelling great, sentence structure above average, vocabulary  extraordinary. You need to have online access with reliable equipment. If your Internet communications at home isn’t working, you can’t do online education from home and will need to go to someplace where you do have access to the internet.
Decide whether its right for you                                                                                                                            Distance education isn’t for everyone, but it just might be for you. you really should seek it out and give it a try. You never know until you try.  You might even fall in love with distance education. While distance education may be the perfect alternative for some students, it’s not the right chose for everyone. So carefully consider your unique needs and interests and give distance education a try; then decide if its right for you.

Challenging Aspects of Distance Education
v Lack of in-person interaction: some educators argue that both teacher-student and student-student contact are essential to learning. in a distance-learning classroom, you may be able to participate in class discussion online in chat rooms, message boards or Web conferences—but it’s not the same as being with other students in a classroom.
v Different levels of quality: many distance-education programs supply an excellent learning experience, but others may not. Research any program before signing on to make sure it’s rigorous enough. If you are choosing your own program, look into its accreditation before enrolling.
v The need to self-start: Distance education lets you make your own schedules. if you have a hard time getting motivated, this might not be the ideal educational setting for you.

Alex Schwazer

The gold- medal winning race walker Alex Schwazer was caught using drugs. And he said at his court conference that he was happy that he got caught using druga because he said he couldn't take it anymore and he wanted another different life. He said that all the weight he had been carrying of him of denying it lifted as soon as he admitted he used drugs. It is brave for someone who does something wrong have the gut to admit it even if they know there will be consequences. but also you put weight inside you whe you take the first step and hide it from people. But still he admitted it, he came clean, and now with that he doesn't have to worry about that. He just has to make sure that another wrong thing he does he does the same and come clean so the consequences won't be as bad. but he shouldn't have done it in the first place but now i respect him because he wasn't a coward he admitted he did something wrong. And i bet he felt relieved when he finally admitted it. the weight inside him he had beeing carrying of lying finally lifted away. And he can now have no worries about beign caught or arrested. he is free to live another life like he said..."i dream of another life".

You may want to take a class that your high school doesn’t offer. Under some circumstances, you can enroll in the class—through distance learning.
Distance education means taking a class without being physically present where it is being taught. Internet-based technology lets students participate in lectures and class sessions online from almost anywhere.
Some high schools agree to recognize distance-learning credits when  they don’t have the resources to offer a course themselves. Distance education is often used to increase options in rural and for AP® courses.
For you, it might mean doing self-tutorial at home in the evening, or participating in a class that is 1,000 miles away, along with other high school students. Check with your school counselor to see what’s available.

“You must never be fearful about what you are doing when it is right.”
Rosa Parks
I think this quote means that when you are doing wrong things like lying you are worried that you might get caught. But if you are doing the right thing you have nothing to fear because they is nothing wrong with doing what’s right so you have nothing to worry about. But they are sometimes that standing up for what’s right might be wrong in other eyes. Like when Rosa Parks spoke up about discrimination and how it was unfair, even though in her type of people it seemed noble and right but to the opposite people like Americans it seemed wrong she didn’t fear because she knew what she did was right even though it seemed wrong to someone else’s eyes. So in conclusion you don’t have to fear anything when you choose the right.

Although working and going to schools is challenging, it can be a rewarding experience if you use some foresight. These tips can help you handle the situation and make the most of your time:
v  Discuss your plans with your family. Balancing the demands of school and work is easier with their support.
v  Stay shortly; don’t commit to working a lot of hours immediately.
v  Avoid time conflicts by planning your class and work schedules as far ahead of time as possible.
v  Use your time efficiently. You can use 10 minutes waiting in a line to go over a few pages of assigned reading. If your job has a lot of down time and your boss has no objection, you can use slow periods to do schoolwork.
v  If you commute to your job on public transportation, bring your schoolwork with you so you can work along the way.
v  Be flexible and willing to make sacrifices. You may have to cut down on some other things you’d like to do because of your school and work commitments.
v  If you have too much on your plate, admit it. Then cut back as needed.
v  Schedule relaxation time. everyone needs some downtime to stay happy and healthy.
